Candidate Conversations: Huron East
Thank you to everyone who came out, and to the Huron Chamber of Commerce for hosting a moderated conversation with the candidates. Here's what I shared that evening.
Highlights from the evening
- Experience. I've served on Huron East Council since 2001, and today I'm Deputy Mayor and a Huron County Councillor.
- Growth. Huron East is growing, including the Omni Quality Living build.
- A balanced, transparent budget. Responsible budgeting backed by asset management.
- Opportunities for Huron East. Building partnerships that bring new opportunities to our communities.
- Affordable housing. Helping more people find a home they can afford here.
- Working together. Working with the new Council to get things done.
- Affordability and value for money. Every tax dollar should deliver value for residents.
Did you know? Ontario has given "strong mayor" powers to many municipalities, which let a mayor override some Council decisions. Learn more at ontario.ca. I don't believe in using these powers.
Voting opens Tuesday, October 13, online or by phone. Here's how to vote.
